The Helen L.
LeGendre Scholarship Fund is a designated endowment established in
2009 by Donna and Richard Weber in honor of Helen LeGendre who was active
as the nurse supervisor in the Dedham (Massachusetts) Public School System
from 1944 until her retirement in 1984. She had always been interested in
education. The Helen L.
LeGendre Scholarship Fund is administered by the Rhode Island Foundation,
a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, established in 1916 that serves the
State of Rhode Island as its only community foundation. Through this
organization, the Fund will provide a yearly grant to the Met Dollars for
Scholars program for financial assistance to a graduating senior from the
Metropolitan Regional Career and Technical Center in Rhode Island.
What
is unique about this grant is that the funds can be applied to not only
full-time or part-time college tuition but also for post-secondary
vocational training tuition, including necessary supplies and equipment.
Through market
growth and generous support from contributors, Donna and Richard Weber
hope to make this scholarship a cornerstone in the Met’s overall tuition
assistance program. Please join us
and others by making a contribution of any size to this
scholarship program. You can
contribute by writing a check made payable to The Rhode Island Foundation,
One Union Station, Providence, RI 02903. Please designate the Helen L.
LeGendre Scholarship Fund on the memo line. If it is more
